Some questions on high profile

Have several questions on high profile:

- to confirm: VidCoder by default is using H.264 high profile (new install)?

 - if I set to constant frame rate -- all else unchanged, would it increase file size?

- what's the difference between the 'high profile' in Preset vs. using the high profile under Video Settings?

The "Normal" preset is less than H.264 high profile. What determines if it's high profile or not is the Options string in the Advanced tab (and the Profile dropdown in the Video tab of course). The options string overrides the profile choice. There's a few ways to have H.264 high profile:

  1. Leave both blank. It defaults to high profile.
  2. Pick the High Profile VidCoder preset. That sets the options to rc-lookahead=50:b-adapt=2 (this is high profile with a few encoding speed tweaks)
  3. Leave the options string blank and pick "High" for the x264 profile.

All that's really required is that you don't leave some old settings around from another preset to override it.

Don't know about frame rate and file size. My first guess is that it wouldn't affect it very much.
