Great software, but problems with encoding over network

Feb 25, 2013 at 1:49 PM
Hello,
thanks for your great software.
I use it to transform ts-files into mp4 files.
When I use it with my usb drive it works fine. When I try to do the same thing over the network it does not work at all.
Is there a way to make this work?
Thank you

Encoding over the network seems to work fine for me. What path are you using to access the file? Can you post an encode log?

Thanks for your reply.
I could not find any log file in the in vidcoder installation directory.
Could you please tell me where I can find the encode log.
Thanks

So you're doing a network-mapped drive? Does HandBrake have the same problems? VidCoder just passes the path down to HandBrake and HB does the actual scanning work.
Feb 25, 2013 at 8:12 PM
Yes, I tried to use a network-mapped drive. Is there something wrong with that approach?
Vidcoder is just a shell for Handbrake? Did not know that.
By chance I ran over Handbrake today. I thought that this is a software that might rival VidCoder :)
I will try Handbrake tomorrow and report back. Thank you.

Yep, VidCoder is my shot at writing a better UI on top of the HandBrake core.

I don't think there would be any problems with using a network-mapped drive but maybe there's something funky happening. In any case I don't actually own any of the code that's trying to read the file.

Ok, I have been really stupid. I forgot to grant write rights for the vidcoder network drive.
Now vidcoder works perfectly over the network.
Sorry for the unnecessary thread.

Hi
The problem is completely solved it? I had also been encountered such a problem, but finally my friends to help me solve, but now I also use another more efficient ts converter tool, but also very convenient, very simple to use, you can try look.
