Reduce haloing

Hi there.
I use VidCoder to re-encode my Blu Ray rips down to 720p with a target file size of around 3.5gig, using a 2-pass encoding.
This seems to give a good quality picture in comparison to file size. One thing I have noticed however is colour haloing on some scene. EG. If there is a fog scene where there are subtle changes in colour, you can see distinct steps from one colour to another.

I was just wondering if there is a way to reduce this happening, or if that’s just one of the sacrifices you make with reducing the file size down to a relatively small size.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what's going on. You could try quality targeting and see if it goes away at a good enough quality level.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have a play.
