Vidcoder not using 100% of resources

Jan 17, 2015 at 10:32 AM
Recently upgraded to 5930k w/ 16 GB of RAM and 480 SSD and encoding a local bluray and Vidcoder is only hitting around 35% of CPU. Any particular reason why? My 2500k and 3770 would both rocket to 99%.

Cheers.

If you're rescaling or using a filter it can sometimes bottleneck the operation. If you posted an encode log I might be able to pick something out.

Hmm. Not sure what it might be. Try removing the cropping, removing the audio gain and removing the advanced x264 options and see if any of those was the culprit.

Did some trial and error.

Having Turbo first Pass and Profile set to Automatic were causing the problem.

Turned Profile to High. Level to 4.0. Unchecked Turbo fast Pass and now using 99% CPU.

oops nevermind, read you solved it
Jan 29, 2015 at 4:12 PM
Hybrid + x265, use CPU: 90%, fps (2nd pass) - 18
Vidcoder: 40%, fps (2nd pass) - 12
Profile - slow
