Could you add the feature to use subtitles from my humax settop box ? I get a mpeg transport stream from it with Teletext and DVB subtitles. But vidcoder does not offer these to be included.

Closed Issue: Presets overwritten [141]

I modified the presets and then unintentionally saved the new settings. Now I cannot get back to the original presets.

Therefore, it would be great to have a function "set preset to factory settings".
Even better would be to have the possibility to add own presets (with own names) and make the default presets write protected.

Have you tried dragging the folder onto the window rather than selecting it from the DVD/Blu-ray folder button?

that is when you encode from a folder you can keep the title of the original video names so when i try to encode a big series it dos not start with episode number 1 so it is all mixed up

Doing that will break compatibility with a lot of devices. The PS3 and Xbox being two of the big ones.

I use the VidCoder very often. to convert videos. I used this because, i have never seen that the codec lost synchronisation between voice and images.
But now i getting more and more movieclips, which have noch lips synchronisation. Its sometime so worst, that you have 3 to 4 seconds betwenn the hearing voice and the moving lips.
Is there a way that somebody will investigete to an option to correct this issues.
Good Example is the VLC Media Player, he has a similar function to correct between voice and images.
Unfortunatly in the VLC media player its not permanent.

Comments: Please see https://vidcoder.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Submitting%20bug%20reports . VidCoder doesn't have the logic for audio/video sync. You should try it out in HandBrake to see if it's a VidCoder problem or a HandBrake problem.

I don't have a good way to know ahead of time how big the output file will be. And HandBrake doesn't have any way to split up the video files. I might change the default "Normal" profile to support large file size, so fewer people stumble into that problem.

It would be nice to have a warning if the file size exceeds 4Gb and you don't have the option "Allow Large File Size" enabled - instead of it just encoding and failing when going past the 4Gb threshold. This might be possible to do in the initial analysis of the source file.
Another option is to automatically split the video when the file size nears 4Gb and continue encoding in a "Part 2"-file or so to speak. Don't know if this is possible though.

Yes they have two special branches out to do OpenCL acceleration and Intel QuickSync acceleration, but they're not in the main branch yet.

Hey just found a post on handbrake.fr which indicates that there might be OpenCL support (ie hardware acceleration). https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/HardwareAcceleration

Overview

VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine.

Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI.

Prerequisites

You'll need .NET 4 (only the client profile is needed). If you don't have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. If you're on Windows 8 you shouldn't need to install anything; it has .NET 4 pre-installed.

You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work.

DVDs
VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You've got several options to remove the encryption:

AnyDVD ($89, removes encryption on the fly)
Passkey for DVD ($40, removes encryption on the fly)
DVDFab 9 (Free, requires copying to the hard drive before encoding)
MakeMKV (Free, requires copying to the hard drive before encoding)
DVD Decrypter (Free, requires copying to the hard drive before encoding, no longer updated)

Blu-rays
There is Blu-ray ripping, but subtitles are not supported yet. Also, again, VidCoder does not defeat AACS or BD+ Blu-ray encryption. There are a few options for removing it:

AnyDVD HD ($152, removes encryption on the fly)
Passkey for Blu-ray ($50, removes encryption on the fly)
DVDFab 9 (Free, requires copying to the hard drive before encoding)
MakeMKV (Currently free in time-limited beta, requires copying to the hard drive before encoding)

If you encounter any bugs with encoding, please see if they happen with the official HandBrake client as well. If the problem is reproducible on HandBrake, submit the issue to them. If it's only VidCoder that has the problem, submit it here.
