For what it's worth, I just realized I need to re-encode my bluray rips with Windows Media Center 8. While these rips worked beautifully in WMC7 (and thanks to Vidcoder), the 4.1 h264 level is being enforced when streaming to the Xbox 360 with WMC. Using the system video player doesn't work with my old rips either.

On the plus side, the rips look fantastic and I can now fast forward (amazingly enough). I also get 5.1 discrete sound out by using AC3 vs AAC.

The settings I use are:
x264 preset: slow
x264 tune film
h264 profile automatic
h264 level 4.1
Constant quality at 17.5
Constant framerate (same as source)

and advanced settings that yield: mixed-refs=0:weightb=0:ref=7:bframes=6:b-adapt=2:direct=auto:b-pyramid=strict:me=umh:subme=10:merange=64:analyse=all:trellis=2:psy-rd=1.4,0.40

The support should show up when HandBrake puts it into their regular nightlies. Right now QSV and OpenCL are both in their own separate beta branches.

Hi all.

First, I want to say that VidCoder consistently behaves and performs better than Handbrake - knowing that you're using the same core, it's great that you're able to achieve that.

Handbrake is now supporting OpenCL acceleration in its beta branches. How soon till we see this implemented in VidCoder?

i have been doing video encoding for a few years now and recently picked up a copy of "my best friends girl". when i tried to bypass the protections my program didn't pick anything up so i put it into vid coder and watched the preview the image looked all choppy, After looking at the log file (below) i noticed that my Fps went down to almost 0 but the Avg fps was above 30. I have had other experiences similar to this and i picked up another copy of that movie and it worked. but my question is this. is this just a bad disc or what?

My Error is:

I'd be relying on HandBrake to implement the video passthrough; but they've stated that they don't intend to add it. Sorry.

This may sound like a silly request for an encoding tool, but there are some cases where it's desirable to transfer the contents of the DVD to an MKV container with no loss of quality. MakeMKV already does a great job of this, but years later it still has no closed captioning option, despite multiple requests.

A lot of TV DVDs have no subtitles, but they have closed captioning. Every TV show DVD I've used Vidcoder on has successfully retained the closed captioning.

Would it be possible to add a passthrough option for video the same way there is for audio? It would be fantastic to finally have a simple solution for DVD-to-MKV that retains the original video, original audio, chapter markers, subtitles AND closed captioning.

Hello people, I use this 1.3.4.0 version of Vidcoder and I'm satisfied with everything but after this new update and the latest version 1.4.21 (I'm using the same preset and settings) but I'm getting terrible video quality!

The source files are same, presets are same, everything's same! I don't know some of the features in this latest 1.4.21 in Video Section. I guess, that causing the problem!!!!!

Now, I don't know, how to get the same video quality in the same encode time.Time is the keyword here!

So, please help me. Also I stay paranoid these days that what will happen when this version will 1.3.4.0 will no longer be available and will forced to use 1.4.21 version. Please don't disable previous version!

Also anyone please let me fix the video quality in new release!

Ok, I understand. Handbrake re-encodes the MP2 audio track to AC-3 even if Auto-passthrough is enabled. So VidCoder is clearer than Handbrake.
