Please add support for unicode

vidcoder is the fastest transcoder i've yet encountered but it has a fairly major flaw: it seems like the current version of this program doesn't support unicode.

this means that if i want to transcode a foreign tv series, i first have to rename the files, then i have to move them, and then after the transcoding is finished, i have to remember to move the files to their proper foreign name directory, it sounds fairly simple but it's honestly kind of a hassle. please consider adding unicode support for all the lovers of foreign films and tv series! thanks!

for some reason, asians really seem to love using the rmvb format, which a lot of western media boxes don't support. a unicode transcoder* would be really handy.

**freemake video converter supports unicode but for some reason it has a tendency to really fubar the framerate, image quality and file size. i've tested the rest of them and vidcoder (and handbrake) seem to be the best applications for converting video files.

When you say unicode, do you mean unicode subtitles? Or a unicode destination path?

From Zer0nix's explanation he appears to be seeking unicode support for file paths/naming. However in my case I'd like to see support for unicode characters in the Chapter Marker Names. In the Chapter Name edit dialogue box unicode characters are displaying correctly, but the output file loses the unicode characters leaving just question marks. This can be seen in VLC player.
One work around is to open the VidCoder output file in Drax chapter editor and reenter the unicode text there.

Did some investigation on this today. I've got the fix for unicode chapter marker names ready. However HandBrake doesn't support unicode input or output destination paths yet. I talked to j45 and he's going to work on it.

1.5.6 Beta has the fix for unicode chapter names.

Any idea if Unicode path names would be supported? I just installed the program, but most of my paths are Unicode, and renaming them is a hassle. Nice program otherwise. Thanks.

Just found out that Unicode paths are supported in the beta. Thanks a lot. I'm set. :-)
