Video cropping issue

description

I have a video with dimension 785x576 (DVD PAL), I want to crop the additional black pixels from left and right to become 720x576. When the input source is MPEG-2 format, it is working fine. However, when the input source is MKV or MP4, Vidcoder will just shrink it to fit 720x576 and didn't crop anything. Preview window did shows that the correct output before encode. I am using the same settings for MPG and MKV/MP4.

I have tried on Handbrake x64, crop function work just fine for all video format as above mentioned.

Thanks.

Can you post an encode log to pastebin?

Thanks, I'll take a closer look at this when I get some time.

Hmm. I can't tell exactly what is going wrong. Cropping seems to work correctly for MP4 input files. Can I get a screenshot of your Picture tab?

For your info, the video actually is 720x576 (not 785x576 as I've told previously) but with Display Width 785.

I tested this with HandBrake and VidCoder and got identical results. The cropping wasn't applied, though I'm not sure why. I'd recommend settings like these; Custom Anamorphic can get needlessly complex if you're not altering the display aspect ratio:
