Conversion from HVEC to H264 succeeds but the video always is cut short

I have a MKV video in HVEC H265 format that I am able to successfully convert but the finished MKV file or even when I convert it to MP4 always stops in this case at 18:01 whereas the complete video is 33:05 minutes long. I also seem to have this issue with other conversion programs so I am not sure if there is a certain setting that is always stopping it from passing 18:01. Like I mentioned the conversion completes with no errors and plays, it just is only a video up to 18:01 instead of 33:15. What am I doing wrong? Thanks,

Jimmy K

If other conversion programs stop at 18:01 as well there may be something corrupted with the original video. Maybe the timing is messed up in the MKV markers, but the video players are able to work around it.

Thanks for the response RandomEngy. You may be correct, it can be the video file but the file plays fine from beginning to end on my computer using a player such as VLC or the built in Windows 8 video player (doesn't work with Media Player) so that would tell me the file is not corrupt? I will try another video and advise. Thanks,

I can't tell you exactly what's wrong, but it's quite possible that the file doesn't follow the MKV specification, but some video players are able to work around it.

You could ask the HandBrake people (who own the engine) what the problem might be if you supply them with a log from HandBrake and explain the issue.
