Program crash while batch encoding

I have a lot of crash without any error message or window, vidcoder simply close.
I just have to reopen vidcoder and i retreive my batch list click encode button again.

I use vidcoder on XP SP3.

My batch list if composed of all chaters from a dvd ripped with dvddecrypter; chapter by chapter:
Chapter2.vob ..etc...

I already have destination with same file name so i choose "overwrite" when vidcoder asked me ...

I opened the log window but it was closed with vidcoder crash :(

I applied different crop settings on each file.
Others settings are x264 q20, AAC stéréo auto. Weight 720 , keep aspect ratio, none anamorphic, container MKV.

Another thing: i don't have any corrupted video encoded file after a crash, so i think the crash occurs between 2 files..

RandomEngy wrote Jul 18, 2012 at 4:09 PM Looks like it might be a HandBrake core crash.

Thanks, i will try official gui.

There's a new version for Handbrake: 0.9.8 ( I have 0.9.6).
Do you update vidcoder each time there is a new version of handbrake ?

Yes. I'm working on it. Hoping to have an updated version of VidCoder with this version in a week or so (along with a bunch of other improvements).

I think it is a vidcoder crash:
This morning, i added many chapter.vob one by one and i had a vidcoder crash (closing) at the start of analysing one of them, very quickly. I reopen vidcoder then my file and no problem this time..

After i start encoding and i had crash 2 times at the end of one file encoding...

So i tried to use handbrake official gui, i did the same settings and added all my file one by one to the queue.I started encoding and all worked fine without any crash.

Thanks for your help

I think the crash is still in the HandBrake code. They don't run into it since they are a CLI wrapper: they have a new process and a new handbrake instance and a new scan for every job. I think they have some bug that causes a crash when you try and re-use a scan to do multiple encodes. I may have to bug them about this one.

What can i do ?

nonobio wrote Jul 21, 2012 at 9:38 AM

Can i find a log somewhere ? I started a new dvd encoding and i have a lot of crash: 3 times on 12 files added to batch..

Logs are in %appdata%\VidCoder\Logs . I talked with the HandBrake guys and they advised me to do a fresh scan before every encode. That might fix the problem, as currently I re-use a scan to do multiple encodes.

When vidcoder crash at the scan of a file, this is the log, it's the same each time:

"[11:33:30] Found the following streams
[11:33:30] Video Streams :
[11:33:30] 0xe0-0x0 type MPEG2 (0x2)
[11:33:30] Audio Streams :
[11:33:30] 0xbd-0x80 type AC3 (0x81)
[11:33:30] Other Streams :
[11:33:30] stream id 0xbd (type 0x81 substream 0x80) audio 0x8000bd"

It is the last line of the log.

About the encoding crashes, i didn't had encoding crash since my last post so i can't check log..
