I am using the latest version with Vista to rip and transcode to MKV. I'm playing movies with XBMC Confluence and Ubuntu 9.10. All previous movies seems to play fine but I recently changed to AC3 passthrough and a higher bit rate for audio and have
always used an optical connection from an ASRock 330HT to a Logitech 5500 system connected to an LCD TV.
It appears that the new version is producing a crackling noise during high volume segments of movies. It sounds just like the fallout from fireworks after the initial burst and the streams coming down produce that crackling noise. Lowering the volume in
any manner and tweaking XBMC audio settings does not help. There is always a bit of crackling noise on explosions, gunfire, etc.
I guess I can go back to no passthrough and try that but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, how it might be fixed, or what tweaks in passthrough (if any) might help.
