only using 30% CPU??

Aug 21, 2011 at 12:53 PM

Hi,

I cannot find any settings but Vidcoder is only using 30% of my Quad Core and currently 5.7% encoding with 9 hours left :-(

Multi-core encoding should be enabled by default. Is there anything fishy in the logs?

Aug 21, 2011 at 11:04 PM

I Dont know what would be fishy, but it is still encoding and here is the log :-) Thanks For Looking

Not sure what this is. I wonder if it happens with HandBrake as well.

Aug 22, 2011 at 11:12 AM

Hi,

The encode just finished when I woke up & I tried to encode the same file in Handbrake & after 5 seconds it starts encoding with all 4 cores at 100%.  I stopped it when it got to 5% & tried Vidcoder X64 & X86 again & the CPU usage is permanently around 30% each core..... weird one eh?

Thanks for reporting this. Turns out the reason it's going slow is that a deblock filter is getting passed in when it shouldn't be. Don't know why this is happening now but I should be able to fix it.

Aug 22, 2011 at 5:32 PM

Hi,

I just checked all the deblocking settings and they are either off / 0  or on default depending on which page you look...

I am in the middle of decoding a new movie at the moment so will try the default profile after its finished...

Cheers

Yeah this is a problem with VidCoder itself. It seems to be passing the Deblock filter to HandBrake even though it's off in the UI. I'll fix this for the next version.

Alright should be fixed in 1.0.1.

Jan 20, 2013 at 2:41 PM

I am using 1.3.4.0 (x64) same problem stil continue. My preset Windows Phone 7 and Deblocking 0 in settings page.

You are setting Deblocking the in x264 Advanced options tab. The Deblocking operation that's most likely slowing you down is the one on the Filters tab.

Jan 20, 2013 at 6:45 PM

I checked again.

My settings are:

Oh you're right! The Windows Phone 7 preset has a buggy Deblock setting. I'll get that fixed up in the next Beta.
