Failed encode and does it matter?

Nov 11, 2013 at 5:04 PM
I just tried vidCoder for the first time and received an error message with my conversion was completed. The error message says my conversion failed with a big red exclamation mark. I can however, open the file and play it all the way through without any issue. With this program all I need to do is effectively re-wrap .flv files as .mp4. So many of the properties of the original video are staying the same. I will post the job log for the job I tried below. I will post what I am able to because this composer only allows a certain amount of text

VidCoder 1.4.24.0 (x86)

Did the log get cut off? I don't see the expected "final report" on the encode. Can you post it to pastebin?

I don't think the error is a problem. HandBrake used to have a problem where it wouldn't report encode failures and you had to just check for errors to see if it had a problem. That's what I'm doing here: reporting failure because I saw the error. They've recently changed this so they're actually reporting encode failures properly so I should be able to avoid these "false errors" in the next beta release of VidCoder.

Hey. Thank you very much! I thought the same thing but have never used handbrake before. Do you happen to know when the new version of VidCoder will be released. So far all the files I have converted have looked great. Thank you!!!

I'll probably have a fix in a Beta release in a week or two. Though you'd need to switch over to the Beta track to get the update.
Nov 11, 2013 at 10:24 PM
I'm sorry. I'm very new, how do I switch over to the beta track?
