No audio

The Vob file plays well in VLC and Windows Medial Player but after conversion to MP4 there is no audio.
VidCoder shows audio "unknown AC3 2.0 channels"

Do you have a log? Does HandBrake have the same issue?

I don't see anything funny in the log; the audio tracks are there. Does HandBrake have the same issue?
Feb 17, 2014 at 10:10 PM
I uninstalled HandBrake and other stuff to keep the computer clean and avoid possible conflicts.

To note that other programs still on my system (Xilisoft DVD Creator and ConvertXtoDVD) converted the VOB file but the video was unusable though the audio was there working well.

I guess the VOB file (extracted from a DVD) is yet DVD compliant but it might have uncommon codecs in it.

If you can't test it on HandBrake the only other way for me to help you is if you share the preset you used and the source video. I use the HandBrake engine so I can't be sure if it's a problem with their code or with mine.

I used the standard "normal" preset in VidCoder.

No I mean the actual source file, not the metadata.

1GB file, how can I share it?
There is a way to split it and get only a sample?

I like to use uTorrent to share large files.
Feb 19, 2014 at 8:07 AM
Ok, I created a 10 second sample video file, VidCoder refused to deal with it "program stopped working" but VLC and Windows Media Player can play it.

Looks like a problem with the nightly build of HandBrake I used at the time. The latest hb.dll doesn't have any problems; I'll include that with the next VidCoder release.

I'm having a similar issue with my vidcoder. I edited a video with Primiere Pro; then After Effects. The resulting .mov file was 6+GB so I of course had to compress the file in order to share it with others. The audio on my video played fine on Quicktime but once I uploaded it to vidcoder the audio disappeared. I had this problem once before on my Mac Book with handbrake and I solved it by specifying that handbrake select the second audio stream as opposed to the 1st which was purposely deleted in Primiere Pro for the purpose of overdubbing.

How do I get vidcoder to select the 2nd audio stream. I'm pretty sure that would solve my issue but I have no idea how to go about it.

Use the Audio dropdown in the main window and pick the second track?
Feb 27, 2015 at 5:34 PM
That's not a possibility. If it were that easy..I wish it were. There are no selections to be made: I can't do it thru the GUI because since the 1st audio stream is the default stream...VOCODER automatically recognizes the absence of that 1st stream as if there were no audio whatsoever.

I need to give this command in the CLI. I did it once before for Mac in Handbrake. I wanna know how to do this with vocoder on my PC.

If you can't select the audio there that means that it wasn't detected by the HandBrake core. What do you have chosen for Target Stream under your encoding preset?
